The “Backstreet Boys : Larger Than Life” Las vegas show credits have been added to their official website! With, to begin, a special message from our boys!

First and foremost, if you’re reading this, we want to say thank you.

Almost 24 years to the day, we are still loving every minute of this, and we owe it all to you. Thank you for watching, listening, clicking, downloading, buying, and of course, Keeping the Backstreet Pride Alive after all of these years. There’s not a moment that goes by that we aren’t grateful for everything that you do. Let’s be real… we do this for you. When we started to toss around the idea of a Vegas residency, the five of us asked each other – what do you think the army will think?

We’ve been working on this for a long long time…. before you guys and gals even knew about it (well, for the most part at least since y’all tend to find out everything sometimes even before we know it). The five of us have been running lots of long nights and early mornings, striving to bring you the best show we possibly can. To be completely honest, it’s been tiring, but we haven’t had this much fun putting a show together since the Millennium tour. smily icon If that gives you a tiny taste of what to expect.

This couldn’t have been done without the hard working group of people on our team and our families. They know who they are and we thank and appreciate you.

Lastly, we are dedicating this to you.

Thank you for everything you do to keep us going. We’ll see you out there.

Love,
The Boys

After 24 years on the road together, the Backstreet Boys are most assuredly still larger than life, and now they have the residency to prove it.

On the opening night of their 26-show stint at Planet Hollywood’s AXIS auditorium in Las Vegas, the quintet (Nick Carter, Brian Littrell, Kevin Richardson, A. J. McLean and Howie Dorough) powered through an energetic setlist of 20 fan favorites, replete with costume changes, backup dancers and pyrotechnics worthy of an arena tour.

Unlike some other Vegas residencies we could name, the band weren’t content to lip-sync through their hits, belting their signature tunes live and still managing to pull off those chair-swinging “As Long As You Love Me” dance moves like it was 1997 again.

The group kicked things off, fittingly, with “Larger Than Life,” with all five members descending from the ceiling in rotating boxes equipped with strobing spotlights, each dressed in futuristic all-white ensembles reminiscent of their “Millennium” album cover.

If you didn’t know any better, someone would have thought it was 1999 all over again in Las Vegas on Wednesday night — and that is no insult. This time, though, there was no Carson Daly and no TRL, but there was a proper boy band on stage. Six months after announcing they were beginning a 26-show residency at Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino, the Backstreet Boys took the stage to 4,600 screaming fans. What happened next was a 100-minute trip down memory lane… which was perfect since BSB’s fans, well, want it that way.

What was it like to see boy band royalty inside the Axis theater on opening night of the “Larger Than Life” show? Here are eight takeaways from Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, AJ McLean, and Kevin Richardson first show in Vegas.

Hey ladies!
Perhaps this is no surprise, but the ratio of male to female was far from even, with women filling up the majority of the seats inside the theater. The group is well aware of its target audience. “How many ladies got a hall pass to spend a night with the Backstreet Boys?” member Nick Carter asked the crowd. “Fellas, who brought a lady so you could get lucky?”

Oldies, but goodies
While leading up to the residency show, the Backstreet Boys promised to harken back to the late ’90s and early 2000s, and they delivered. During the nonstop show, the group chugged along through a 20-song set that centered on the hits. While speaking briefly to the crowd, Howie Dorough called the songs “oldies but goodies.” Most people would say that it was like listening to a Backstreet Boys greatest hits album live. “Hopefully this is the best Las Vegas residency anyone has ever seen,” AJ McLean added.
