High-pitched cheers pierced the air in Liberty University’s Vines Center throughout Convocation on Wednesday as Backstreet Boys member Brian Littrell and his family talked about how their faith influences their lives.

But the highlight of the event — and the point at which the decibels reached their peak — was at the conclusion, as Littrell joined the Liberty Worship Collective in singing a medley of his boy band’s greatest hits, including “Everybody,” “Larger Than Life,” “As Long As You Love Me” (joined by his son, Baylee), and “I Want It That Way,” the top single off of the ninth-best selling album in history. Students crowded the front of the stage to sing along, many screaming at the top of their lungs, and were rewarded as Littrell hopped down to join them, shaking hands, signing autographs, and giving hugs all while singing.

At one time, the Backstreet Boys were the most popular pop group in the world. They are the first group to sell 1 million CDs in a week and have sold over 140 million albums to date, reaching multi-platinum status.

On his own, Littrell released a contemporary Christian album, “Welcome Home,” in 2006.

Littrell, along with his wife, Leighanne, and teenage son, Baylee, answered questions on stage in an interview with David Nasser, Liberty’s senior vice president for Spiritual Development.

The singer/songwriter talked about how he remains strong in his faith throughout worldwide fame.

“It is what you make of it,” Littrell said. “A lot of people in the world, they make a big glitz and glamor about it. Me, I’ve always known who I was as a person going into the business and that is the person that I am going to be coming out of the business, if I ever stop.

“You can easily put yourself in the wrong position. My wife always tells me, ‘You are your environment.’ If you put yourself in those scary situations, things can happen. And for me, my faith was the foundation; it was a template, it was something that was always on my mind no matter what I did.”

Baylee has been interviewed for JustJared.com !

Brian Littrell and his wife Leighanne pose with their son Baylee Littrell at the opening night of the musical Disaster! on Broadway on Tuesday (March 8) in New York City.

The 13-year-old son of the Backstreet Boys singer is making his Broadway debut in the musical playing the dual roles of twins Ben and Lisa. The show takes place on a cruise ship casino on the evening of a major disaster in the Big Apple and spoofs classic disaster movies while using a catalogue of ’70s music.

“Ben and Lisa are identical twins and have very different personalities,” Baylee told JustJared.com in an exclusive interview. “Lisa is bubbly and bright, and is definitely the singer out of the two, but she doesn’t know a lot about the world. Ben can be more helpful than Lisa, but he’s not as outgoing as her.”

Baylee also opened up to us about what it was like growing up in the entertainment industry as Brian‘s son and how his parents inspired him to become a performer.

Brian Littrell’s 13-year-old son is all grown up and headed to the Great White Way. Baylee is following in his dad’s musical footsteps and is set to make his Broadway debut in Disaster! when it opens in New York on March 8.

“When I think about it, I accomplished something that not a lot of people get to achieve in their life,” the teen told the Associated Press. “I’m still a little shocked. It still hasn’t come out of my mind yet.”

Talk about some seriously talented genes. Back in the day, the boy bander’s son used to come up on stage and sing from time to time on his tours. “He’s way better than both of us put together,” Baylee’s mom, Leighanne Wallace, told the AP.

But Baylee’s parents, who met on the set of the music video for “As Long As You Love Me,” weren’t eager to force their kid into showbiz. “We’re not those parents to push him in any direction. We’re just supportive and loving in whatever he wants to do,” Brian said. “He could be a trash man or a schoolteacher, it doesn’t matter. We’re here to love him.”

Check out the video to hear Baylee’s impressive vocal chops, and tune in to The Insider With Yahoo on TV tonight for the latest in entertainment news

Baylee Littrell, son of Backstreet Boy Brian Littrell, is in “Disaster” at the Nederlander Theatre.

Baylee Littrell was 9 when he started opening arena shows around the world.

OK, it helped that his dad, Brian, was a member of the headlining band — Backstreet Boys.

“Baylee would do two songs,” his mom, Leighanne, tells The Post. “He would ride his scooter to the stage, sing, scoot out and go play basketball. It was totally normal for him: It’s just the way he grew up.”

Now 13, Baylee’s facing smaller crowds, but they’re no less daunting: He’s making his Broadway debut playing twins Ben and Lisa in “Disaster!” — a spoof of ’70s disaster movies set to such period hits as “Hot Stuff” and “Three Times a Lady.”

Asked by his father whether it’s hard to handle two different roles, Baylee replies, “Oh yeah. It is completely the most difficult thing I’ve ever done in my life.”
