Happy Father’s Day to Brian and to all the dads all over the world !! 🙂

Fatherhood is the most challenging, but yet rewarding thing in life. You know, I tell you selling records and being an entertainer is an amazing feat, but there’s nothing more rewarding to me than being a father, being my son’s hero.

For their induction into the Kentucky Music Hall of Fame, Backstreet Boys Kevin Richardson and Brian Littrell invited bluegrass musicans and college seniors Josh Turner and Carson McKee to come play with them at the ceremony. Richardson, Turner and McKee say it all came about because of the students’ YouTube video of their bluegrass rendition of “Larger Than Life” and McKee and Turner talk about getting to play with members of the band they grew up listening to. Several big names in the music industry such as The Backstreet Boys and Montgomery Gentry visited Lexington Friday evening as they were all part of the newest class of The Kentucky Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

“There’s no place like home,” Backstreet Boy Kevin Richardson said.

The 2015 Kentucky Music Hall of Fame inductees all have rich Kentucky ties and have made a tremendous impact in the music industry.

“I grew up half my life in Harrodsburg, Kentucky- went to Mercer County Elementary School. Then we moved to the mountains of Eastern Kentucky halfway between Irvine and Beattyville and I graduated from Estill County High School,” Richardson said.

Country duo – Halfway to Hazard, received a humanitarian award Friday for raising more than one million dollars towards Eastern Kentucky concerns.

“Kentucky is such a rich history of talent and artists and writers and singers and wow,” Halfway to Hazard’s Chad Warrix said.

Retired Vice President of Reel Property/Special Projects at WKYT, Tom Bennett, was awarded the Danny R. Ford Distinguished Service Award for his advocacy on behalf of the museum.

Past Kentucky Music Hall of Fame inductees include John Michael Montgomery, Ricky Skaggs and Rosemary Clooney to name a few.

“To be inducted and to be part with the and to be with them legends it’s pretty chilling,” Eddie Montgomery of Montgomery Gentry said.

More than 700 people attended the event Friday.
