If you were alive in the ’90s, you probably know the phenomenon called the Backstreet Boys – a frenzy some compared to Beatlemania. With more than 130 million records sold worldwide, they remain the bestselling boy band of all time. And the boys – now men – are back with their biggest world tour in 18 years, and another hit album, “DNA.” Tracy Smith talked with Nick Carter, Howie Dorough, A.J. McLean, Brian Littrell and Kevin Richardson, who have never turned their backs on each other.

At about the time the members of One Direction and 5 Seconds of Summer were becoming heartbeats, the Backstreet Boys were already heartthrobs all over the world. And boy, were they big. BSB were the undisputed daddy of boy bands. Girls everywhere – reporter Allison Langdon included – and even a good number of blokes loved them, along with their sweet pop ballads and catchy vocal harmonies. The group sold more than 130 million albums, but then they broke more hearts when they went quiet for quite a few years. But now the Backstreet Boys, or Backstreet “Men” if you prefer, are back.

Backstreet Boy Brian Littrell swung by the studio along with his wife, Leighanne, and son, Baylee, to talk the Backstreet Boys “DNA” World Tour, the end of their Vegas Residency (but there might be something else in the works for the future), and what it’s like working non-stop.
And he’s not the only hard worker: their son, Baylee, has his own single (“Don’t Knock It”) out now, with another one on the way (“Boxes” is dropping on May 10 and his album shortly after that), and Leighanne is managing it all!

New country artist Baylee Littrell will open for the Backstreet Boys on the North American leg of their DNA World Tour this summer.
Baylee Littrell is following in his dad’s footsteps — literally!
The 16-year-old new country artist will be joining his dad Brian Littrell and the rest of the Backstreet Boys on the North American leg of their DNA World Tour this summer, which be the group’s biggest arena tour in 18 years.
“Since I was 6 years old, my dream has always been to go on tour,” Littrell, 16, exclusively told PEOPLE. “I wanted to do what my dad did. One of their shows — I think it was the tour after their album This Is Us from 2009 — they went out on the road and I remember right before they went on, I put on one of my dad’s jackets from one of his outfits in his dressing room and I stood in front of the mirror. He comes in and is like, ‘Hey Bubs, what are you doing?’ and I’m like, ‘Well I want to be like you.’ I asked, ‘Can I get up there instead one day?’ He was like, ‘Well, you never know.’ And now the opportunity to open for him and the guys is like that 6-year-old self standing in front of that mirror in his dressing room with his jacket on. It’s a dream come true.”
Littrell — who dropped his new single “Don’t Knock It” in November — will be releasing his first album this summer and could not be more thrilled.
